Yoshihiro (Yoshi) Takatori is a Special Advisor at Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu. His primary practice areas include international litigation and alternative dispute resolution (ADR), including arbitration and mediation. In addition to his extensive experience as an advocate, he is one of few Japanese attorneys-at-law who have attained the status of Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (F.C.I.Arb.). He has secured numerous landmark victories in private and commercial law within cross-border litigation, as arbitrator and mediator.
Mr. Takatori, a globally recognized attorney-at-law in his field, is listed as arbitrator and/or mediator on panels of several prestigious institutions, including the Japan Commercial Arbitration Association (JCAA), the Japan International Mediation Center (JIMC), the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), the Singapore Mediation Centre (SIMC), the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC), and the Korean Commercial Arbitration Board (KCAB).
His contributions to the profession extend beyond dispute resolution, as he advises the Japanese government and provides training for judges, legal trainees, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (C.I.Arb.) candidates, and law school students including those at the University of Tokyo School of Law. He has authored numerous publications on a variety of areas including intellectual property, antitrust, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), the UK Bribery Act, and various compliance and cybersecurity-related topics. Mr. Takatori is also frequently a speaker at seminars, international conferences, and other events.
Throughout his career, he has received numerous accolades, including being named one of the 10 most innovative lawyers in the 2019 Financial Times Asia-Pacific Innovative Lawyers Report. He has been ranked in Band 1 for Dispute Resolution by Chambers Asia Pacific and recognized as a leading individual for Dispute Resolution and Intellectual Property by The Legal 500 Asia Pacific.
Mr. Takatori serves as an Executive Director of the Japan Association of Arbitrators (JAA), Co-Convener of C.I.Arb. Japan Chapter, and an Approved Faculty List (A.F.L.) member of C.I.Arb.. He is also a member of the Private International Law Association of Japan.
